Weekly Fishing Report For March 3rd 2022 - Tackle World Cranbourne & Mornington

Congratulations to Hunter Broadway on your beautiful brown trout caught from the Tanjil River, you are this weeks Catch of the Week.

PAUL'S FISHING

Jet Worsteling and staff member Ben Clothier fished off Mt Eliza in 4 to 6 metres of water and caught good numbers of squid using IKA and Odori squid jigs. They then flicked soft plastics and bait in an area about 1km off the Mornington pier and caught some nice pinkies to around 40cm. The guys got a call from good customer Sasha Sergejew asking them to join him and his daughter Courtney chasing Western Port whiting. The evening consisted of a hot whiting bite in 13 metres of water near Tortoise Head. They landed their bag of whiting measuring up to 43cm using mussel and fresh squid strips for bait on size 6 Gamakatsu worm hooks.

Paul and Cristy Worsteling fished out from Martha Cove with Paul’s parents; Hans and Henny. They caught good numbers of whiting and some beautiful blue spot flathead to 50cm. Best baits for the session were mussels, pipis and squid strips. Paul kept the bite at the boat by adding an extra sinker to his Sea Dog berley pot keeping it hard to the bottom and regularly topped it with shredded pilchards. To make clean up easier for everyone the Tumbler Scaler bag was used on the trip back to the ramp.

WESTERN PORT

Steve Johnston from Ace Fishing Charters had some fantastic sessions on the whiting with his customers this past week with Middle Spit and the Eastern Channel being his hot spots.

OFFSHORE

Good customer Peter Vink fished with Justin Teohaere and Simon Utan and headed out from the Eastern Entrance towards Cape Schanck. The guys had an awesome session on the tuna trolling hard bodies. They also managed to land a cheeky mako that chased one of their tuna to the boat.

Marco from Sharkmen Fishing Charters has fished offshore this week and smashed the tuna with his customers.

The Reel Time Fishing Charters crews fished out from Western Port and found some beautiful tuna with their customers.

BALNARRING

Sammy fished Balnarring beach last week and caught this ripper gummy shark.

MIDDLE SPIT

Staff member Mark Keaveny fished the Hastings side of Middle Spit and found plenty of whiting and some pinkies. Mussels and squid are dynamite baits at the moment Mark reports.

TOORADIN CHANNEL

David Milne and John Stroomer fished the Tooradin Channel in 9 metres of water and caught some nice whiting up to 45cm using mussel and Californian squid for bait.

BOULTON CHANNEL

Levi Tonkin caught a nice gummy shark fishing Boulton Channel during the run out tide. Levi reports losing another bigger fish that bit at the same time this gummy did.

The Reel Time Fishing Charters crews fished Port Phillip Bay with their customers this week and caught some beautiful whiting and snapper.

OFFSHORE

Chris from Cassar Fishing Charters has been in the thick of it this week and caught fantastic numbers of tuna, the Strada Pro Tracka was a stand out lure.

Marco from Sharkmen Fishing Charters has fished offshore this week and smashed the tuna with his customers.

Zac Cross from Cross Country Fishing Charters caught some beautiful tuna with his customers this past week fishing offshore.

The Reel Time Fishing Charters crews fished offshore this week for some ripper tuna action with their customers.

Andrew Tartaglia and some mates caught some nice tuna fishing offshore on the Barwon side of Port Phillip Heads.

QUEENSCLIFF

Jordan Nipsey caught a nice 115cm gummy shark off Queenscliff.

ST LEONARDS

Ewan caught a nice gummy shark fishing off St Leonards this week.

AROUND THE STATE & BEYOND

Kyla fished with her boyfriend and caught a cracking 40cm redfin fishing a private dam.

CASEY FIELDS

Jace popped in store yesterday to grab some lures to fish Casey Fields with and reports in that he managed 13 yellas in a short session. Love ya work Jace and thanks for reporting in!

TANJIL RIVER

Hunter Broadway caught this ripper 37cm brown trout using a spinner fishing the Tanjil River.

LAKE TYERS

Ruth Beeby caught some thumper bream fishing Lake Tyers using soft plastics.

Matt Chadderton caught this healthy 78cm dusky flathead using cut mullet for bait at Lake Tyers.

Brenton Hyland and Ben Ferguson fished Lake Tyers last week and caught some nice dusky flathead to 73cm.

BEMM RIVER

Nikki Bryant fished Bemm River last week and caught some fantastic bream using soft plastics.
