WESTERN PORT

TYABB BANK

Kerrie Methers with a cracking squid caught at Tyabb Bank using a baited jig under a float. Well done Kerrie!
Using baited jigs for squid at this time of year can be the difference in a doughnut session or getting a feed. Baits like silver whiting or yakkas are ideal and the rig is simple.

PORT PHILLIP BAY

PATTERSON RIVER

Linda Kilpatrick caught a cracking bream fishing the Patterson River this week. Beautiful fish Linda, well done!

MORNINGTON

Staff member Ben Clothier has fished the Mornington Pier a number of times this week and caught some nice squid using Yamashita jigs.

ROSEBUD

Dylan Wilson-Diprose and a mate fished at Rosebud and caught this 2m seven gill shark using salmon for bait.

AROUND THE STATE & BEYOND

TROUT STOCKING

Victorian Fisheries Authority have been busy with a number of trout stockings going on across the state. These stockings have been a mix of fingerlings (for the future) and “ready-to-catch” fish. Some of the noteable locations stocked are:
Ferntree Gully Quarry - 500 brown trout, Bellfield Reservoir – 10,000 rainbows, Beaufort Lake – 1,000 browns & 1500 rainbows, Deep Lake - 1,200 brown trout & 1,000 rainbows, Lake Wendouree 10,000 rainbows.
Winter is all about releasing trout and when the weather warms up before Christmas Fisheries will transition to native fish, beginning with estuary perch and Aussie bass and then cod and yellas to follow.

BERWICK SPRINGS

Good customer Borno took the family to Berwick Springs for a fish. His son Tayden caught a nice redfin and his grandson Raiden caught a solid carp; both fish were caught on worms that Raiden collected.

PORT ALBERT

Jayden Currie with a nice elephant caught using a whole pilchard for bait at Mans Beach Entrance, Port Albert.
