 Location

The Arnhemland Barramundi Nature lodge is a multi award winning remote area lodge situated in the middle of Arnhemland in the Northern Territory’s north coast region. The lodge provides world-class barramundi and tropical sportfishing as well as aboriginal culture, nature and dedicated bird-watching tours in the aboriginal heartland of Arnhemland. The lodge is easily accessible via a comfortable one hour flight, approximately 350km east of Darwin. We use local regional airline Air North who have regular daily flights that depart Darwin from the main Darwin airport terminal to Maningrida in Arnhemland.

In addition to the various Brolga tourism trophies awarded by the Northern Territory Tourist Commission the Northern Territory’s Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge was adjudged to be “Australia’s Best Fishing Experience” by the prestigious international travel industry magazine, “Travelling In Australia” in May 2008.

 The Lodge

Our world class Lodge is located approximately 18km from Maningrida. It is nestled in the unspoilt beauty of Arnhem Land is situated on an escarpment fringe overlooking the Liverpool and Tomkinson river valleys. The main Lodge includes an extensive, fully contained dining area, a bar and tasteful dining decor with views of the river valley. We have a huge covered deck, complete with outside bar which overlooks the escarpment. This is a great place to relax and unwind after a days fishing. Our spacious deluxe en-suite cabins are purpose designed for maximum tropical comfort that compliments the savannah environment but retains a taste of luxury in an otherwise remote and unspoiled landscape. The lodge provides a private and exclusive location from which to experience world class fishing & nature-based adventures.

Guests are transported in comfortable, 4WD Landcruiser vehicles, an air conditioned coaster coach and government-surveyed 5 & 6 metre boats. On all fishing, Aboriginal culture, nature and dedicated bird-watching tours, guests are accompanied by the lodge’s own highly-experienced, accredited professional guides.

Fishing

All fishing is from our fleet of purpose built, stable, Oceanmaster sport fishers, skippered by your own personal fishing guide. We have access to a huge expanse of pristine tidal rivers, coastal beaches, headlands, and offshore islands - which are a fishing paradise. Barramundi are prolific throughout the myriad of rivers, tidal creeks & secluded freshwater billabongs to which we have access. In addition to the iconic barramundi, these estuaries are also the home of northern mulloway (black jewfish), mangrove jacks, golden snapper, threadfin salmon, blue salmon & tarpon. With the abundance of tropical lure crunching fish species available in the rivers & creeks, the area is surely a lure casters dream.

I f you tire of fishing the estuarine waters there are plenty of opportunities for fantastic blue water fishing for a variety of species such as hard running spanish mackerel, schooling broad-bar mackerel, tenacious giant trevally (GTs),  aerobatic queen fish, giant herring, golden trevally, golden snapper, cobia, coral trout, and much more.
